This is a large rhododendron azalea bonsai in full bloom. I do not know the variety. I obtained it several years ago and have had it in my collection. As you can see if bloom profusely. As soon as the bloom is over, it will get its first pruning of the year. I usually prune it about 3 times up until middle fall. Then I leave it alone, so it has time to make the new flower buds. This is a beauty and it well pot set. It could use a repotting this year or next. This tree is 24 tall x 28 wide x 24 deep front to back. It has twin trunks. The smallest is 1 1/4 and the bigger is 2 1/2 and both combined are 4 1/2 wide visually. The pot is a satin dark yellow glaze and is 3" deep, 12 wide, 16 long overall. This tree will be a nice one to add to your collection. You would need an 18" drip for displaying this one temporararily in tokonoma in the home.
You are now looking at the tree heavily pruned back since its flowering just recently this spring 4/15/08. Will show it a little later with leaves flushing back out.
