This is a Japanese Mountain Maple bonsai tree. These are the rudimentary japanese maple that all other maples came from as hybrids, etc. The mountain maple is very hardy, primarily a green maple that puts out red fringed leaves in the spring. Later they are entirely green and like it in a shadier spot. They were typically under story or under canopy type trees. This tree is planted in a 7" round chinese purse pot. These are hard to come by. The height of the tree is 17" and is about to push out its leaves. I recommend an 8" tray for this tree.
